My medium is photography, creating imagery using both film & digital capture. I entered my first darkroom in 1972. Now, as then, I manipulate and enhance the image with whatever tools I have available.

After using a wet professional color and B&W darkroom for 20 years, I converted to digital in 2005. Since then, Photoshop has become indispensable, making it possible to combine photo realism with digital fantasy which transforms the image from mere documentation to fine art.

I think that digital photography is a new medium that is an extension of film photography. It opens new horizons the capture, handling and manipulation of the image. My imagery is only limited by my own vision and skill. Creating an image is a little like a game of chess. If you do not think several moves ahead, you will spend a lot of time fixing problems. Photography has always been high-tech.

Embracing digital technology was natural for the industry, but I have found that even with the control of digital imagery, there is no substitute for good photography.

Owning the best equipment does not make a skilled, experienced photographer any more than owning a paint brush and oils makes a skilled, experienced painter. Ultimately, the success of the image is a combination of skill, artistic vision, the good fortune of being there, and knowing when to click the shutter.

I use Epson printers & ink, printing on both paper and canvas because of the stability and longevity of the image when properly presented.
